Grandma Bonnie is a former educator, licensed clinical mental health counselor, and children’s book author whose life’s work centers around helping children and families grow, heal, and connect.
Today, Grandma Bonnie brings her stories to life through Story Time with Grandma Bonnie—where she reads to children, sharing truly inspirational and faith-centered stories that uplift, teach, and inspire both kids and parents alike. Her storytelling creates meaningful moments of connection, helping families grow together through values, imagination, and a deeper sense of purpose.
Today, Grandma Bonnie channels her decades of experience into writing meaningful children’s books that inspire curiosity, emotional awareness, and connection across generations. Her work reflects a deep belief that storytelling can shape lives, strengthen families, and leave a lasting legacy.
She began her professional journey as a public school teacher in York, Maine, where she taught in a multi-grade classroom (grades 1–2) from the late 1980s through 1998. These formative years in education established her deep commitment to child development, creativity, and emotional well-being—principles that continue to shape her work today.
Driven to deepen her impact, Grandma Bonnie pursued a graduate degree in expressive arts therapies at Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. There, she developed a unique, holistic approach to communication and healing—using visual art, storytelling, music, and movement as powerful tools for expression. Her clinical training included work with chronically ill children at Dartmouth Children's Hospital, as well as supporting youth and families in community mental health settings. These formative years in education established her deep commitment to child development, creativity, and emotional well-being—principles that continue to shape her work today.
In 2000, Bonnie joined The Youth Council in Nashua, New Hampshire, where she worked closely with children, adolescents, and families in both individual and group environments. Specializing in post-traumatic stress and mood disorders, she later became a licensed clinical mental health counselor and opened a private practice in Bedford, New Hampshire. There, she supported families through some of life’s most complex emotional challenges, helping them find healing, stability, and growth.
In 2008, Bonnie and her husband Todd, along with their youngest son Miles, relocated to California to be closer to their eldest son Seth and his growing family. Since settling in the Los Angeles area, Grandma Bonnie has continued her lifelong commitment to service—volunteering in schools, churches, homeless shelters, and nonprofit organizations across Los Angeles and Orange County.
Her passion is to see children grow into curious, confident thinkers—because she believes that encouraging curiosity builds brain power. By inspiring kids to ask questions, explore ideas, and engage with the world around them, she helps lay the foundation for lifelong learning, creativity, and discovery.
